Spring / Spring Retry Interview Questions
How do you add Spring Retry to a Spring Boot project?
To add Spring Retry to a Spring Boot project, you include the spring-retry dependency in your build file and enable retry support with an annotation on your configuration class.
Maven dependency:
<dependency> <groupId>org.springframework.retry</groupId> <artifactId>spring-retry</artifactId> </dependency> <dependency> <groupId>org.springframework</groupId> <artifactId>spring-aspects</artifactId> </dependency>
The spring-aspects dependency is required because Spring Retry uses AOP proxies under the hood when annotation-based retrying is enabled.
Enable retry in configuration:
@Configuration @EnableRetry public class AppConfig { }
Once @EnableRetry is placed on a configuration class, Spring scans for @Retryable and @Recover annotations in your beans and wraps them automatically. Without this annotation, the retry annotations are silently ignored.
In Spring Boot, it is common to place @EnableRetry directly on the main application class alongside @SpringBootApplication for simplicity.
